quiet ripples break the surface
forced along by the brisk wind
wading long legged
white winged hunters
stab the mud for treasures
grey feathered comrades
manouvre their
right hooked beaks
under the round rocks
gulls screech overhead
flax flowers stretch
for the grey clouds
that match the colour
of the driftwood skeletons
stacked by tides
along the edges
now dry and no longer in reach of
the salty waters
dogs people bikes
pass the wetlands
teaming with life
twitchers cluster cameras
ready in excitement to save their memories
