Invisible Cloak

wendybremner978

woven from threads

from the gray hairs

on her silver head

from the saggy jowel

and furrowed brow

from the extra chin

and the dimpled skin

its woven tight

so nobody sees

the woman beneath

shes learnt and taught

shared and treasured

loved and lost

and storms shes weathered

she has been

and still is

knowledge

power

strength

courage

truth

but hidden from view

ignored and not seen

there's no longer youth

she's not

what she was

but oh

what she is

she's seen it

and heard it

and touched it

and smelt it

she's tasted it

and lived it

and known it

she's planted it

and nutured it

and grown it

she sits

while she waits

she's in no hurry

the rushing

the gnashing

the anguish

the worry

all gone

she's there if

you want her

or need her

but

you have to

take off the cloak

so you see her
