Damp underfoot
chill in the air
glitter shaken
onto velvet
stars twinkle
overhead
a breeze slides by
trying to sneek
under your coat
as you exhale
breath catches
in your throat
it's silent black
solitude
save for the dog
tiptoeing
across the lawn
sniffing for scents
on her way back
to warm
